We all know natural products like shampoo can get expensive. So these last couple of weeks I have been using an all natural shampoo I made at home.
This is a very simple shampoo. infused with essential oils. The first day I tried I felt it didn’t have enough suds, but my hair felt clean enough. I have been using it everyday for the last two weeks. I now wash rinse and repeat and find the second wash I get a good lather. So far my hair feels clean and bouncy.
This is the basic shampoo recipe, you can replace the essential oils with your preferred scent.
Basic Shampoo Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup Liquid Castile Soap – I use lavender, but you can choose unscented or any scent you’d like
- 1/4 cup distilled water
- 1/2 teaspoon jojoba or grape-seed
- bottle to dispense
- 1/8 teaspoon lavender essential oil
- 1/8 teaspoon peppermint essential oil
Mix all the ingredients together. Store in a bottle. Shake before use.
This mixture isn’t as thick as commercial shampoos. I am really impressed with how much lather I get from it though!
I use lavender for it’s properties that can generate hair growth and reduce stress.
Peppermint oil can cause a cold, tingling feeling when it increases circulation to the area it’s applied to. This can help promote hair growth during the anagen (or growing) phase.
Enjoy this recipe and let me know how it worked for you.
