We all want to age gracefully. There are so many products out there full of chemicals and additives that can actually be harmful for our health and our skin.
There are labeling requirements, but besides labeling, regulation over the industry is very minimal. Currently, there is no federal law that requires companies to test personal care products for safety prior to marketing them to the public. Lack of regard for public safety means that just about anything is ending up in your facial products.
Many of the products out there contain Parabens which are synthetic preservatives. Phthalates (fragrances) is also in many products. Phthalates are linked to bioaccumulation, which means they become trapped in the body FOREVER. They can cause cancer and other potential health risks. These are just a couple of the ingredients used to make your beuty products.
Knowing this it is up to us, the consumers, to make informed decisions about what goes on our skin, in our hair, and into our bodies. This is why I have been switching to more natural products and making my own also. By making your own products you can control what you put on your body.
After trying different recipes for an anti aging serum this is the best that has worked for me. You can also buy my face serum here. But if you want to make your own, just follow my recipe.
- 1 1/2 tbsp rose hip oil
- 2 tbsp jojoba oil
- 1/4 tsp vitamin E

- 2 drops Patchouli essential oil
- One dark 1 oz glass dropper
Combine jojoba, rose hip seed oil, and vitamin E into glass dropper bottle. Add essential oils, close top, and roll bottle to mix. Use 1/4 to 1/2 dropper full of serum on a clean, dry face and neck.
